Eco Club of JSS Public School, Ooty was inaugurated on 05-08-202. The student’s president Aishwarya Magesh of grade XII presented a detailed report of the aim and objectives of the club.
Swathika of grade XI share insight on the
‘World Nature Conservation Day” which is observed on27th July. Pragarna from grade XI briefed the gathering regarding various activities the plans for the Academic year 2024-25.
The programme also incuded viewing a documentary video presented by Tharan of Grade XI based on the disasters faced by Wayanad and other parts of India due to incessant rain.
In conclusion, as an initiative to nurture the Nature for green environment, two saplings were presented to Mrs Anitha Ramesh, the Principal by the members of the ECO Club.

The Inter School Volleyball tournament for boys was held on 7th August, 2024 at St.Judes Public School Kotagiri. JSS Public School, Ooty represented for the same. 12 Schools had participated in the tournament in uder-17 category our team qualified until the league stage

It means a way to make good and great quality character.

The event commenced with a formal welcome by our school principal, who emphasised the importance of the Sterling Stars Club (Anti-Drug Club) in fostering a drug-free environment.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the pledge-taking segment, where students and teachers joined hands in a collective commitment to remain drug-free. Each participant pledged to advocate against drug use, support peers, and seek help when necessary.
The pledge, a vital component of the club’s mission, underscored the collective responsibility of the school community in addressing the issue.
Speech on Impacts of Drug Abuse:

In her address, provided a comprehensive overview of the impacts of drug abuse. She highlighted that drug addiction not only affects physical health, leading to conditions such as heart disease, liver damage, and neurological disorders but also disrupts mental health, contributing to conditions like anxiety and depression.
The speaker also detailed the social ramifications of drug abuse, including strained family relationships, increased crime rates, and the significant burden on healthcare systems.
Her speech reinforced the message that drug abuse has wide-reaching consequences, making prevention and education crucial.
The ceremony was further distinguished by a live telecast of the Chief Minister’s pledge. In his address, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling drug abuse through enhanced policies, community programs, and support services. His pledge was a powerful affirmation of the collaborative effort needed to address this pressing issue and provided a motivational boost to all present.

The C.E.O. announced the rebranding of the Anti-Drug Club to the Sterling Stars Club. This new name reflects the club’s mission to build high character and moral integrity among students. The renaming emphasizes the club’s focus on character development and positive influence.
The inauguration of the Sterling Stars Club will feature a pledge-taking ceremony, where students and teachers will commit to living drug-free lives. The meeting provided guidelines for selecting and registering members of the Sterling Stars Club. The Inter-House English Elocution Competition of JSS Public School, Ooty, held on 12th August 2024, was a grand showcase of linguistic prowess and confidence. Ms Anitha Ramesh, the Principal, encouraged and wished good luck to the students from all four houses – Prithvi, Vayu, Jala, and Agni who participated with enthusiasm. The competition comprised three categories: Storytelling for the Juniors, Poem Recitation for the Intermediates, and Declamation for the Seniors. Each participant enthralled the audience with their unique style and interpretation.
Prithvi House emerged as the ultimate champions, demonstrating exceptional talent and stage presence. Vayu House closely followed as the runners-up, showcasing their oratory skills with finesse. Jala House secured the third position, and Agni House put up a commendable performance to claim the fourth spot.
The judges, Ms. Cynthia and Ms. Kennita, were impressed by the overall standard of the competition. Their expert feedback proved invaluable to the participants. The event was a great success. The love for language was well-expressed.
The school extends its gratitude to the judges, teachers, parents, and the organizing committee for their contributions. It was a truly inspiring event that showcased the potential of our young orators.

The Interact Club of JSS Public School, Ooty, was formally installed on Tuesday, 13th August, 2024, in a ceremony graced by the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Rtn. Group Captain CHN Kumar, the President of the Rotary Club of Ooty Central, Rtn. Sanjay, and other distinguished members of the Rotary Club.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by the school Principal, Ms. Anitha Ramesh, who expressed her gratitude to the Rotary Club for providing the students with a platform to serve the community. She emphasized the school’s motto, ‘Building Minds with Conviction’, and its alignment with the Rotary’s core values.
The newly elected President of the Interact Club delivered an inspiring speech, outlining the club’s objectives and the team’s commitment to making a positive impact on society. He stressed the importance of service as a way of life and expressed his pride in leading a group of young and enthusiastic individuals.
Rtn. Sanjay, the President of the Rotary Club of Ooty Central, provided valuable insights into the Interact Club’s role and the expectations from its members. He encouraged the students to embrace the spirit of service and contribute meaningfully to the community.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the Rotary Club, the school administration, and the students in making the event a success.

In lieu of the Founder’s Day celebration, on September 17th, 2024 an Inter- School Art Competition was held at JSS Public School, Ooty.
Students from fourteen(14) shoools enthusiastically participated in the competition, showcasing their artistic skills.
St Joseph’s Convent emerged as the overall winners.
Also, the Inter- House Art Competition was held on the same day. Students of classes V- XII participated in the competition.
It was a day filled with colour and creativity.
The annual Tamil Recitation and Elocution Competition was successfully held on August 23, 2024. The event was divided into two categories: Recitation for classes 4-7 and Elocution for classes 8-12.
The recitation competition featured students from classes 4 to 7 reciting poems of their choice. The participants displayed exceptional talent and enthusiasm, captivating the audience with their expressive delivery and deep understanding of the verses.
The elocution competition provided a platform for students in classes 8 to 12 to showcase their public speaking skills. Competitors delivered compelling speeches on a variety of topics,
demonstrating their ability to articulate their thoughts clearly and persuasively.
The competition was judged by esteemed educators: Mrs. Hemalatha from Woodside School, Ooty, and Mr. Maharishi from Annai Saradadevi Matric Hr.Sec School, Anikorai. The program commenced with a Tamil prayer song, followed by the welcome address by Inaya of class 11.
The Tamil Recitation and Elocution Competition was a resounding success, highlighting the exceptional talent and dedication of our students. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants. The event served as a valuable platform for our students to enhance their linguistic skills, confidence, and public speaking abilities.
